In some respects it is hard to know where to begin. How much does anyone really want to know about other folks? I'll tell you a bit about myself, about my wife, Elizabeth, some about our children, and let you decide (lol) what is enough. Having said that, here goes...
I was born in Birmingham in 1950. Due to the fact that I was born prematurely, I was left with cerebral palsy. However, I have tried to never let that slow me down. I have had multiple operations designed to help straighten my legs, and even multiple eye operations. I went through the required elementary school years, attended Tarrant High School, and was a student at Samford University from '70-74.
As I consider it, I can hardly remember a time when I was not aware of God's presence in my life. At age 15, I felt God dealing with me and I answered the call to preach. Little did I know what twists and turns my life would take, the highs and lows, the mountain-tops and the valleys, but I suspect if the truth were known, we could all make a similar statement concerning our lives. But, I can say without hesitation, that God has been faithful. He has proven again, and again, that His Plan for me is always better than anything I could purpose for myself.
I have been involved in ministry for most of those years and in '91, I was privledged to be part of a missionary team that went to Jamaica. I have also been a clown/magician for several years and have used those skills to reach many people. I am thankful for all God has allowed me to do, and is allowing me to do through the internet outreach.
From 2002 to the present I've had doulble cataract surgery, developed type II diabetes, and had prostate surgery. But even given all that, I feel blessed, because God has kept me. And in 1988, God blessed me by allowing Elizabeth and me to marry. Here is a portion of her story in her own words...
"I was born the year Israel became a state (1948). My mother’s parents were Presbyterian. My mother joined the Catholic Church during World War II. My father’s affiliation was Baptist. As a child I attended Vacation Bible School in the summer. I attended Catholic schools starting in the fourth grade. When I was twelve I made a decision to follow the Christian way of life. Following graduation from high school, I entered the convent. I was a member of that religious community for the next four and a half years. Believing that my calling lay elsewhere, I worked next in a residential house-ministry outreach to hippies. During my married life, I have been active in the Assemblies of God and smaller inter-denominational churches. Finally, my associations have expanded to include Jewish studies and worship. I have looked at life through several different pairs of religious “glasses."
